TGF & Lifestyle Crafts Birthday Card

Hello everyone,

Today I have a card and a video to share. I made this card for my niece that's turning 7 soon. Last year I made her a card and the girl had blonde hair and she got insulted since she's got red hair. LOL! This year I made sure that I gave the girl on her card some fiery red hair.

I did use Copics to color her in but I'm not an expert in Copic coloring so I didn't film that. I figured there are some real professionals out on YouTube land that will guide you better if you were looking to learn how to use them.  I'm still a true beginner. MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch 46

Hello,
I have another card I created for this week's MFT challenge. Here is the sketch:

My Card:

For this card I used Who's That E Girl. My card based was cut out of black American Crafts cardstock. I stamped the image on Copic X-Press Blending Card  with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in the skin and lap top with my Copics and paper pieced the rest. For the paper piecing and layers of the card I used Cosmo Cricket's Mini Deck Circa 1934. To assemble the card I took a strip of the pattern paper and cut a banner shape at the bottom, used another pattern paper from the stack to cut the scallops using Fiskars Scallop Sentiment Punch and used the zig zag stitch of my sewing machine with black thread. Attached it to the right hand side of the card.  Cut another scallop with the punch with another coordinating pattern paper and attached some gingham ribbon and attached it going over top of the banner. Cut a strip of paper and rounded the edges using We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper on the 1/4 inch side to create the tab, attached it to the stamped panel with the zig zag stitch and added my sentiment.  Added two Recollection's Pearls to the left side of the tab. For the flowers on the left hand corner I used two MFT dies Mini Rolled Roses and Rolled FLower to finish the flowers I added some of the Recollection's Pearls to the center. Made two bows with my Mini Bow Easy and rounded the top left side of the card with the Corner Chomper to complete the card.

The Stampsmith Card

I found this company when my LSS store was having a huge convention. What caught my eye about them is that they have stamps of some of the most iconic Hollywood stars. Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, James Dean and a lot of other images besides just movie stars. I absolutely loved that about them.  They're celebrating a year of having their Challenge blog and having a stamping challenge aswell. This challenge theme is ribbon and lace.

My card

It features Marilyn Monroe with one of their photostamps.  I can't find this image on their online store they just have a message stating that if you're interested in one of their Movie Stars stamps to contact estelle@stampsmith.net. To achieve that old photo look was a complete and total accident. I stamped the image with Jet Black Stazon, it was the only ink that gave a deep even impression, on Copic's Xpress Blending Card. Trimmed it out and added a thin layer of Glossy Accents. Put it in the freezer. After 20 minutes I took it out, I was hoping it was frozen and dried so that I can just crack it and make it look really distressed. Not dried. Tried it again 20 minutes later and still not dried. Left it over night.  It cracked, then it thawed out and went went again. Threw it in the trash. Was working on how I could achieve the same look, looked down at the trash can and saw how cool of a look it got once it dried. The edged bled into the picture and got that white border all on it's own.  LOVE! For the card base and black layer I used American Crafts cardstock. I started embellishing it. The lace is from Hobby Lobby, the ribbon and bling is from Michaels, the flower is from Joanns, it's sold by the yard. Did some stitching and added a sentiment which came from MFT's How Sweet It Is, I inked a word at a time so that I can make it go across instead of up and down. That finished up the card.

Missing in action plus card share

Yeah so I've been absent from the blog for a month. To start things off my niece and nephew are here to visit for the whole summer, so it's been me and 4 kids all 6 yrs. old and under by myself since hubby was at school for the first three weeks.  Man you really learn how to manage your time better.  Also, I'm trying out for a few design teams. First time ever trying out so I'm not holding my breath. But I really wanted to challenge myself and do something that scares me. I'm a pretty shy, non confrontational person so this is really out of my element. I've been creating, just not things that I can put up on the blog yet.  I have made a heck of a lot of cards these last few days, though.  I've been all about challenging myself lately and I really wanted to try and make simpler cards that will mail easily.  I find myself paying a lot of money is postage when I have to mail out a card to a friend or family member. That really does not bother me but when I gift cards in packages I want to make sure that the recipient does not have to pay a lot in postage.  The first card did not meet my challenge requirements but I think by the time I got to the last card I succeeded. Here are just a few of the cards I've worked on as of late.


This is the first card. It started out good and then I gave in.  It just felt too plain and I though a felt flower would do the trick.

I killed my copic!

Yeah.  So they're supposed to last a long time and can handle being abused but I guess I'm an exception to that rule. I managed to mess it up in less than 6 months. The tip is shot and the marker is running dry and of coarse my husband has put me on a spending ban. According to him "I spend too much".  I'm on a freeze for a month.  Why me? Why me? Why me?  On a side note: I have another card to share today. 

This card is created using American Crafts Dear Lizzy collection. I have to be honest. I have a crush. Not only is she beautiful her crafting style is totally cute.  Love it!
