Washi Tape Flags

Hello,
I made a quick video showing how I created the Washi Tape Flags on my layout.  I was all into trying new things for this layout.  First I made a two page spread of 8.5x11. That's a different size for me. I'm  normally a 12x12 girl. Then I was playing around with washi tape. Even though I think they're really cute I never jumped on the band wagon but my Studio Calico kits started containing them so I thought it would be fun to play around and see what I can come up with. Then I got into the whole octagon thing too. Never used that shape on any layout in any form whether it was embellishments or pattern paper. I gotta say. Love it.  I think the last thing I tried was the splattering. Also very cool.

Layout:

Supplies used:
Studio Calico Kits: Snow Cone and Printers Drawer
Stuido Calico: Mister Huey's Calico Shine and Opaque White

Creating 3D flowers

Hello,
I have a quick video today demonstrating how you can create 3D flowers out of flat flower shapes, but first I want to give you a background on the picture. My daughter has been big on taking pictures lately. She's got one of our old digital cameras. It's really big and bulky but it's easy for her to hold. One day she was playing around taking picture and she took this wonderful picture of herself. I knew right away I needed to print it and make a layout with it.

12x12 Layout share

I completely forgot to share this layout. It's one of my favorites I've completed this year.

There are so many different layers. I hope I can explain it and make sense. For the layout I used October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker 8x8 Paper Pad. I started with a 12x12 piece of cardstock.  I cut the house from the Paper pad. Once the house was popped up I cut a 4 fences using Martha Stewarts Iron Fence deep edge punch. I trimmed the bats off and double layered them with a pop dot in between. Glued it down. Then I took some crafting moss and did a think layer going all the way across the fences and on the window planters.  Next I took 4 Petal Caps from Bottle cap Inc., punched all of our faces using Fiskars Medium Round 'n Round squeeze punch, added four 1 inch epoxy dots to the top of the photos and then adhered them in the center of the petal cap using a double layer of pop dots. I then started to layer mini roses from Recollections and Prima around them. Added some white Prima leaves through out which I stained with Tattered Angels Olive Vine Glimmer Mist. Punched a few butterflies out of the same paper pad with Martha Stewarts 3-in-1 classic butterfly punch and layered them over the flowers. For the Window planters I took lose flower petals and folded them until the resemble flower buds. For the sky I punched a few clouds out of the same paper pad with Fiskars Extra Large, Large and Medium Cloud Squeeze Punch.  The Plane is a EK Success medium punch. I tied a banner with Lemon Divine Twine. The banner itself was just created by me cutting a strip of cardstock and then making the angled cut at the end. For our last name, date and hearts coming out of the fire place I used Martha Stewarts Numbers Large Punch and Alphabet Punch Set.  That's it for that layout. WOW! That was a lot.

Studio Calico Layout

Hello,
I created this layout for this week's sketch by Studio Calico.  Entries are due by Tomorrow 11-7-2011 if you want to play along.

Now on to my layout:

For this layout I used bit and pieces from Glee Club, Meadow Lark, Perennial (only image I could find) and Field Guide Studio Calico kits.  I cut the circle with my Fiskars Ultra Shape Express and Super Sized Circles Shape Templates. I stamped the arrows with VersaMark Frost ink pad and the planes were either cut from pattern paper or punches with Ek Sucess Airplane Medium Punch. To make my Photos look like tags I used Fiskars Squeeze Corner Punch Chip of the Ol' Block, attache some  We R Memory Keepers Grommets, Twill ribbon to the tops of the tags and sewed around edges with my sewing machine.  For the border strips I used the Fiskars Upper Crest borner punch. The picture looks like there is a huge shadow going across it and the shadow is actually in the picture itself. These were taken with my iphone. It doesn't provide the best quality photos but I love the fact that I don't miss a moment by searching for a camera or having it dead when it's in need.

My baby girl

I had taken my daughter with me to get my son's pictures taken when he was 9 months old. Well she can't help herself she always loved to have her picture taken and they took this shot of her.  It was my absolute favorite.  She was dancing! It truly does capture her fun spirit.

The breakdown and supplies:
I took a piece of 12x12 paper from My Minds Eye Life Stories collection 2.  I Die cut a frame with Sizzix's Frame, ornate #3 with a piece of Core'dinations Core Couture paper in Elegance.  Took the frame and ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder. Took my Making Memories sanding block and went over the top gently so that the dots would pop a little more. I had a piece of left over transparency so I cut the center oval out of that to be able to cut the picture to fit within the frame. Well I liked the way it looked. Made it look like a picture frame so I left it on the picture.  Popped the whole thing up with pop dots.  I added a strand of Prima Bling ( I purchased it a while ago at Michaels). On top of the bling I added a Recollections Boutique Fleur (It's the Michaels line of scrapbooking supplies). Through out the vine I also added some Prima Mini Roses and Recollections Mini Roses. Cut a few Butterflies with Martha Stewart 3 in 1 classic butterfly punch with some of the Core'dinations Core Couture paper in Elegance.  On the right hand side of the layout I used Papertrey Inks Dies to match Banner Builder Collection to cut the two rows of banners with Core'dinations Core Couture paper in Elegance for the bottom layer banner and some brown scrap cardstock for the top layer banner. Stitched some ribbon from Making Memories Vintage Findings Trim.  Added some more of the Recollections Mini Roses and Prima Mini Roses and some of the Martha Stewart 3 in 1 Classic butterfly punch to complete the layout.

A layout to share

Here is my baby girl.

I took this picture at the hayride and I liked it so much as a portrait that I had to make it black and white. If I would of kept it in color there would of been a wagon, a woman's knees and a man's elbow and it would of taken away from her. So I made it black and white and cut as much of the picture off as I could. I absolutely love the way this layout came out.

The breakdown and supplies:

The 12x12 piece of paper if from Pink Paisley/House of three Parisian Anthology called Architectural arch. I used Pumice stone Distress ink to edge all around the page and then used some of Anitas Acrylic paint in ocean blue to add some color around the page. On the right hand side of the layout under the no.173 I used a piece of a border from Artisan Elements Borders with a piece of ribbon from Ruffled Darlings Ribbon Strips. I stamped around the page some of the elements from Parisian Anthology clear stamps. I used Pumice Stone distress ink, first I stamped it on a scratch piece of paper and then I stamped on the page. I wanted it to be subtle. I used a circle from Artisan Elements Circles around my baby girl's picture painted with Anitas acrylic paint in ocean blue. I wiped if off with a paper towel while wet to give it more of a stain look instead of painted on. On the center of the flowers I added some Glam Rocks mirror irock bling put on with my Tulip heat setting tool. Then added some tule from Joanns scrap section to layer on the outside of the circle. On the right hand side of the circle I used some Recollections bling. I die cut a piece of the Parisian Elements paper with Papertrey ink's signature series: Dress Form which was distressed with Pumice Stone distress ink and the edge with Anitas craft paint in Ocean blue. Added two roses distresses with Pumice Stone distress ink, a felt flower cut with Sizzix 3-d flower die and a handmade pin.

That does it for tonight. Thanks for stopping by:

Christmas Layout numbero dos!

Here is my second layout completed with my Making Memory goodies:

The breakdown and supplies:

Making memories card stock Pets 12x12 Solid Mead.  Distressed with Vintage Photo distress ink.  Used one of the 8x8 specialty papers from Making Memories Noel 8x8 specialty paper pack.  Layered an envelope from the Ledger envelopes. On the polka dots of the envelopes I layered some bling from Paper Reverie Brun Antique gems and glitter tapes. Inside of the envelope is a journaling page from Spiral Journaling book. I had to trim it down to fit inside the envelope but the extra pieces are used through the layout as well.  For the tittle, the "visiting" word is created with Making Memories Tiny Alpha stickers in black and white.  First I stamped them with Maya Roads Ledger Stamp Sheet with Timber Brown Stazon ink then used some Vintage Photo distress ink over top to antique it some.  "Santa" is a Making Memories alphabet rub on called Heidi LC Black. I purchased this in Michaels dollar section.  Layered a star from glitter die cuts on a pop dot with some bling from Paper Reverie Brun Antique gems and glitter tape. On the journal page I journaled about how this picture does not show what he really looked it. This was a lucky shot cause the rest of the pics were of him screaming. I did add a small picture of him crying at the bottom of the journaling sheet.  The picture was distressed with the Heidi Swapp edge distresser. Under neath the picture the star came from Shimmer alpha stickers  and the "10" came from Glitter epoxy alpha stickers to signify the year. A rosette from Rosettes and a bling from Paper Reverie Brun Antique gems and glitter tapes on the corner and to finish the grouping of yuminess I created a tab with the Making Memories slot punch  layered with a button from the findings kit and finished with some bakers twine from the vintage findings trims. At the bottom of the layout there is a piece of paper from the trimming of the journal page and a tag from the glitter die cuts pack.  Last but not least on the top left hand side of the layout there is a label from Ledger envelopes and label stickers pack with a plaque from Artisan Plaques and finished off with the torn edge of the journal page.

That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by:

Christmas Layout

So I posted about my Making Memories blog win well here is the photo of the loot.  It was amazing. I could not believe how many things I received.  Thanks Making Memories for such a wonderful RAK.

I created two layout using the Noel Collection which was Raked to me. This is number 1.

My daughter with Santa this year.

The Break down and supplies:

I used a 12x12 piece of Making Memories card stock: Dog solid Cran. Distressed with the Heidi Swap edge distresser and then inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. Ripped the top and added tags from Glitter die-cuts pack and the findings kit and sewed one of the flaps with a zig zag stitch and added a bling from the Glitter bling words to anchor it in. Used the foil 8x8 paper from 8x8 Specialty paper pack. Layered an envelope from Ledger Envelopes and label stickers pack. On the envelope where it says "Name" is added her name with the Shimmer alpha stickers. Then I took a star from the Glitter die-cut pack punched a hole with the Martha Stewart 1/4 inch circle punch and framed the number 5 already on the envelope for her age. Added a metal plaque from Artisan Plaques. I added three tags from the Findings kit, I turned them upside down since they say Happy Holidays used a Zig Zag stitch to attach them to the page and two blings from Glitter bling words to join them together. On the side I used on journaling page from Spiral journaling book added a die-cut from the findings kit and a poinsettia from Poinsettia music notes. The small envelope and the two red buttons came from Findings kit I added pop dots behind the buttons so that I can attach some bakers twine from the vintage findings trim.

Okay. I think that covers it. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to let me know. I'll be back tomorrow for layout number 2 using this collection.

A 12x12 layout

I'm in the middle of trying to edit another video and my MAC assures me that it's out of memory storage. CRAP! Good thing that I'm been in a video making mood lately and instead of publishing them all at one time I've been spacing them out so that in the event that I can't make a video one day I still have some back ups. Good thing I'm so smart! LOL! Here is the pic of the layout I completed. The video walks you through what I did, the products used and a little tip at the end.

Here is my latest video. I walked you through how I completed two 12x12 pages. If anybody has any tips on how to complete some good boy layouts please let me know. I'm absolutely horrible. My husband described it as what my pages looked like when I first started scrapbooking. Now that's bad.
